This is Why Your Car Has a Grille
Here at CrossPointe Motor Cars in Winchester, VA, we get a lot of questions about used vehicles. For instance, many people aren’t sure about the purpose of their car’s grille.
Here’s the point of a car grille.
Car Grilles and Engine Cooling
If your car didn’t have a grille (or the opening where a grille used to be, at least), the engine would fail completely, and your car would become undrivable. In very rare cases, it may even start on fire. Your car has a grille in order to let wind through to the radiator and protect it from debris. The radiator cools down the hot coolant coming directly from your engine. If there was no spot for a grille, the radiator wouldn’t be able to do its job, which would make the engine overheat. After a while of operating at overheated temperatures, the engine would seize up and become inoperable.
