Quick Fix: How to Roll Up a Stuck Power Window

Here are two ways to get your stuck windows rolled back up. However, these fixes are just bandages: they don’t fix the actual problem. They should be used to roll your windows up the one time before you get your power window motor replaced.

That being said, here’s how to roll up a stuck power window.

These fixes attempt to force the wiring in the motor to make contact and roll your window up. If the first step doesn’t work, try the second one.

  1. Open and slam your door while holding the window switch in the up position while the ignition is on.

  2. Hold the window switch in the up position and hit the spot over the motor with something blunt, like your fist.
