The Value of Honda Used Cars

Anyone looking to save as much money as possible when purchasing a vehicle would do well to consider buying used. There are many advantages, such as not having to worry about initial depreciation. You want to start off by choosing a reliable manufacturer with a good reputation, such as Honda. Here’s a mini guide as to the best value when it comes to buying Honda used cars.

Small Cars

If you’re looking in the small car department, a 2011 to 2013 Honda Fit goes for $8,000 to $13,000. Similarly, the 2013 to 2014 Honda Civic goes for anywhere from $10,000 to $15,000. The Civic in particular has excellent safety and performance ratings and is well known for its reliability.

Sedans

The Honda Accord has long earned the highest safety ratings since its first production decades ago. If you’re looking for models that are still in good condition and ratings, the 2011 to 2012 models years are good options for around $15,000 to $20,000.

Inspecting a Used Car

How To Inspect A Used Car

Whether you buy from a dealership or a private seller, here are the essentials of how to inspect a used car.

Engine

Look at the hoses, belts, battery, and radiator for a start. Any rubber should be firm and not cracked or soft. Check the charge indicator on the battery and make sure the radiator coolant is green or orange, but not rusty. Also, look for coolant stains, as that could be a sign of a leak. Inspect the various fluids to ensure proper coloring and volume.

Body

Look over the outside of the vehicle for signs of damage. Some scratches and wear and tear is normal; you want to make sure the suspension is level and that the lights and lenses are in proper working condition. Be wary of buying an older car with new tires as that’s a sign of the odometer being rolled back. Check for chips or cracks in the auto glass.

Interior

Note any smells in the vehicle, including the trunk. Moldy, mildew smells are a sign of water leaks. If you don’t like the smell of the vehicle, don’t buy it. Sit in all of the seats to make sure you like how comfortable they are. Ensure all the instruments and controls work properly.

Independent Inspection

Have your own mechanic inspect the vehicle to make sure it works. Dealerships may also submit vehicle reports to you and offer inspections and other services. Contact CrossPointe Motor Cars to learn more about inspecting a used car before you buy.

Why Buy A Used Car

Buying Used: The Balance Between Value & Risk

There seem like so many advantages to buying a brand new product. When you purchase a new vehicle, you have the luxury of knowing that no one else has ever owned it. So why buy a used car when you can have a new one? There are actually many good reasons to consider going with a pre-owned vehicle as opposed to a new one. Buying used is all about finding the perfect balance between value and risk.

Value

There are many ways to save on buying a used car. First of all, used cars don’t depreciate in value the same way new cars do. If you’ve been eyeing a particular luxury vehicle that’s out of your price range, buying it used takes away the risk of depreciation and nets you a better price. It is also much cheaper to insure a used car, which means you’ll save on those auto insurance premiums. Many modern vehicles easily pass 100,000 miles and go up as high as 200,000, which also means used cars are fairly reliable.

Risk

Of course, there is some risk with buying used. Warranties and repairs are likely to have run out when buying a used car, and used cars tend to need more work the older they get. Interest rates on used car loans are sometimes higher. Used cars also do not necessarily have the latest safety features that the newest vehicles do.

Find Luxury Vehicles at an Affordable Price

While it’s true that you get a vehicle with some miles on it, buying a used car makes owning your dream car more of a possibility. Luxury vehicles are within your reach, and most modern vehicles are fairly reliable. In addition, you pay a much lower price and don’t have to stress about depreciation.
